StudyRoom contains study and revision notes written by subject specialists
StudyRoom

Written to help you succeed... by senior examiners, experienced teachers and tutors. Each subject area on examstutor has its own StudyRoom, containing study articles and reference material covering the core elements of examboard specifications. The articles are designed to be more concise than your course text book, and more comprehensive than the old style paper-back revision guides.

New articles are added to our StudyRooms each month and you can view up-to-date content pages, and sample articles for each subject area by following the links below. 'The study room was the most useful for me when it came to revising as I was able to summarize the information and make additional notes. Although I made notes using my textbook, the study room helped me to condense them even further whilst highlighting the main areas that I need to revise.'  (Student Review)

Unlike other static sites, examstutor is built around an online database, which means, simply......It's Clever. When you're in the StudyRoom, examstutor looks at the topic you are studying, and then goes and finds other resources, from throughout the site, that it thinks may be of interest to you, including : exam questions , online tests, links , factsheets...saving you from time consuming searches of the internet by putting everything you might need, on one page.

StudyRoom Navigation

Finding your way round. Having selected your RevisionPathway the StudyRoom is divided into the units, one for each of your exam papers. Each unit contains articles covering the core topics that may appear in your exam. The articles are also broken down into a number of pages, to make revision of the topic easier.

You will find a navigation bar on the left hand side of every StudyRoom telling you exactly where you are in your studies. In the example illustrated above we are revising for Unit 1 Cognitive Psychology, by studying the second page of an article on Human Memory.

Video Maths Lessons

Watch and Learn. Imagine if you could instantly call upon the knowledge and experience of your very own personal maths teacher whenever you needed help in maths. Well now you can. Examstutor Maths studyroom provides you with access to online video lessons, covering each topic you could be tested on in your GCSE Maths exam, and growing coverage of A level Pure Maths.

Explained by a maths teacher, and former Head of Maths, with over 40 years teaching experience, you will literally see how to answer maths questions, use a calculator, protractor, compass, and be advised on the common mistakes students make in their exams.

Exam Solution

Listen and Learn. Many students who have a strong auditory memory find information sticks if they hear it rather than read it. As well as access to the Podtutor popdcast service, a large number of our studyroom pages also provide the facility to listen to a spoken version of the text. Enabling students to use visual and auditory learning styles in conjunction to revise more effectively.

Finding practice exam questions and tests

Finding practice exam questions and tests. Examstutor also searches its Exam Hall for suitable past paper exam questions, and lists any questions it finds beside the study article in the Study Room. You can select a question from the list and view the question, its mark-scheme and where available the examiners report on student responses to the question. As well as attempting questions online, you have the option of printing out questions for later reference. As new exam questions are added to the Exam Hall database, examstutor automatically incorporates these into its search for suitable questions on each topic....and there's online testing as well.

Exam Solution

Finding useful links. Let's say you're a biology student studying the 'Synapses' page within the 'Nervous Communication' study article. Having read this article you may want to visit other useful sites that consider this topic. Examstutor searches its database, and finds reviewed links to other sites, immediately presenting them to you in the Study Room. Examstutor updates its database of links on a weekly basis, when new and better links are added, examstutor will automatically present these to you.

Printable Version

Online and Offline. Because you won't always have access to the internet in class, as well as making Study Room content available online, you can print out study room articles for use as personal study notes. Simply click the printer icon in the Study Room, to view the printable version of notes.

Navigational Version

To return to the online version of study room content, simply click the navigation icon in the Study Room. You will find both these icons in the top right corner of the Study Room.

making links gets you marks

Making links gets you marks. Showing an ability to make links between different topics you have studied, in answering an exam question, will often gain you additional marks. Within the Study Room the opportunities to make links between topics are identified by the click to link icon by selecting this feature in the Study Room, you are automatically taken to topics which may gain you extra marks.

Exam Solution

Practice makes perfect. The more times you work through sample questions on a topic, the more confident you will be attempting questions in your exams. You may even be asked a very similar question. As well as providing you with access to a database of past exam questions, examstutor also includes worked example questions within the Study Room. Simply click on the solution icon in the Study Room to view the worked solution for an example question. Worked example questions are currently included in the chemistry and physics sections.

Finding practice exam questions and tests

BookMarks. When you've finished revising in the StudyRoom, examstutor records the last page you studied, and BookMarks this page. So when you return to the StudyRoom for your next revision session, you can go straight back to the last topic you'd been revising.
